Day of Infamy January 6th
Never Forget The Attempt to Subvert Our Constitution
The events of January 6th, 2021, serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding and protecting our democracy and the Constitution. The attempted insurrection was a direct attack on the foundations of our government and the peaceful transfer of power that is a cornerstone of our democracy.
It is important to remember and never forget the seriousness of these events, and to hold accountable those who participated in or encouraged the violence and destruction. It is also important to continue working towards healing and unity as a nation, and to uphold the principles of democracy, freedom, and justice for all.
As a society, we must work to promote respectful and productive dialogue, reject extremism and violence, and support policies and actions that promote equality, justice, and fairness for all members of our society. We must remain vigilant in protecting our democracy and ensuring that our government serves the people and upholds the rule of law.
The events of January 6th, 2021, can be accurately described as an insurrection or attempted coup. On that day, a mob of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the United States Capitol building in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.
The mob breached the Capitol building, breaking windows and vandalizing offices, and engaged in physical altercations with law enforcement. Members of Congress and other government officials were forced to evacuate or hide for their safety, and the joint session of Congress was temporarily halted.
The actions of the mob were widely condemned by politicians, law enforcement officials, and members of the public, and many have called for those involved to be held accountable for their actions.
It is important to note that peaceful protest is a fundamental right protected by the Constitution, but violence and insurrection are not legitimate means of expressing political grievances or achieving political goals.
